How to Post One Video to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube at the Same Time

By the Post0 team · Updated

Short answer

Export one 1080×1920 MP4 under 3 minutes, write one caption, then publish that original file to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. You can upload it in each app by hand (about 10–15 minutes) or use a cross-posting app such as Post0 to send it to all three in one step, now or at a scheduled time.

Before you start

Three things save you from failed uploads later:

  • Export once, at 1080×1920 (9:16). Use MP4, H.264 video, AAC audio, 30 fps, 3 minutes or less. Full limits are in the TikTok vs Reels vs Shorts specs guide.
  • Keep the original file. Never download your TikTok to repost it; the watermark follows it to Instagram and YouTube.
  • Switch Instagram to a Professional account if you want any app to post for you. It is free.

Option 1: Post it by hand

Free, and fine if you post once or twice a week. Expect 10–15 minutes per video.

  1. Open TikTok, upload the video, write the caption, choose who can see it and whether comments, Duets and Stitches are on, then post.
  2. Open Instagram, create a Reel from the same file, paste the caption, pick a cover, and share.
  3. Open YouTube, tap Create → Upload a video, choose the file, add a title of up to 100 characters and a description, choose visibility, and upload.
  4. Check each app a few minutes later to confirm the post finished processing.

Option 2: Use a cross-posting app

Better if you post several times a week. Here is how it works in Post0; other apps follow similar steps.

  1. Connect TikTok, Instagram and YouTube once with each platform’s official sign-in. No passwords are shared.
  2. Choose the video from your phone.
  3. Write one caption. Adjust it per platform if you like, and add the YouTube title.
  4. Review the settings each platform requires, such as TikTok’s privacy and disclosure choices.
  5. Post now, or pick a time to schedule.
  6. See the result for each platform separately, and retry only the one that failed.

Adapt the caption, not the video

  • TikTok: lead with the hook in the first line; 3–5 relevant hashtags is plenty.
  • Instagram: the first line shows before “more”, so put the point there.
  • YouTube Shorts: the title does the work. Keep it under 100 characters and describe what happens.

Common mistakes

  • Posting a 16:9 video: YouTube will not treat it as a Short.
  • Going over 3 minutes: fine for Reels, but it will not be a Short and may exceed your TikTok limit.
  • Reusing a downloaded TikTok with its watermark.
  • Assuming a scheduled post went out without checking each platform.

Frequently asked questions

Is it bad to post the same video on TikTok, Reels and Shorts?

No. Posting your own video natively on each platform is normal. What hurts reach is a watermark from another app, a wrong aspect ratio, or a caption that ignores the platform. Upload the original file and adjust the caption per platform.

Can I post to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube from my phone at once?

Not with the official apps, which post to one platform each. A cross-posting app like Post0 lets you pick the video once on your iPhone and publish it to all three.

Should I post at the same time on every platform?

It is fine to post at the same time. If your audiences peak at different hours, schedule each platform separately; the video can stay the same.

Do I need a business account?

Instagram only allows apps to publish to Professional (Creator or Business) accounts. Switching is free in Instagram’s settings. TikTok and YouTube work with personal accounts.
